Mrs Ruth Laird – appointed 1 June 2006
Ruth was first appointed on 1 June 2006 and reappointed in June 2009 for a further period of 3 years. She has over 25 years experience in the field of human resource management and organisational development, working in the public, private and voluntary sectors. She was formerly Director of the National Trust NI, Head of Personnel, BBC (NI) and a Fair Employment Commissioner until June 1999. Ruth is a chartered member of the Institute of Personnel and Development. She is currently a member of the NI Judicial Appointments Commission; a NI Parole Commissioner; a Board member of the Health and Personal Social Services Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority and a non-executive Director of the NI Transport Holding Company. Ruth is also a member of the Council of the University of Ulster (appointed from 1 October 2009).
